Licensing#

If you are starting on a rig without really ‘dug in’ users please upgrade to use bugfixes and keep use unified.

We need to renew our a license whenever we want to upgrade to a new release. We get a discount if we upgrade with every new release, but we are not obliged to upgrade with every new release. Note that transitioning to 2023 requires contacting ScanImage. To see the licenses go to https://support.mbfbioscience.com/my_subscriptions

Scanimage 2020-2021#

Using ScanImage 2022+ requires a different licensing system this is ONLY for versions 2020-2021.

This was last checked on 10/20/2023 by SH, the MBF website names are currently NOT the same as the Berg names, and it is unclear which mappings are current.

Berg 1,2: V-471-507-191

Berg 3: V-194-797-779 (MBF label: Vidrio System 2 , Expires 2022-06-10)

ScanImage 2023#

Upgrading from <=2022 to 2023+ requires conversion of the activation key by contacting MBF. There is currently one other license that can be used. Go to https://support.mbfbioscience.com/my_subscriptions to copy it.

Berg 4: ANQI1-K2200-G1HJK-M8P1Y-561MX-ZDQZXE57M (Vidrio System 3 - Rachel Wilson Lab, Expires Apr 07, 2024)

Installation#

ScanImage is owned by MBF currently and depending on the version you are using, the download may be hosted on a different site. Download here (search the docs if this is out of date), note that for our hardware we can only use the ‘Premium’ option.

The Tiff and BigTiff files from ScanImage can be read with ScanImageTiffReader, available as a library in various programming languages.

This note was written in May 2021 while setting up Berg 1 with ScanImage 2020 Premium and MATLAB 2018b. This page has additional links to diagrams. Make sure to check the most recent by going to the ScanImage Docs (if you just Google “ScanImage”, it might give you a link to the older version of the ScanImage).

Version compatibility#

Check the compatibility between NI-DAQmx, MATLAB, and ScanImage!

  • ScanImage 2020 Premium has not been tested with MATLAB2020a. Safer to use MATLAB 2019b.
  • ScanImage 2020 Premium is currently not compatible with NI DAQmx 20.7. Make sure to use 20.1 instead.
